The GHA president, H.E, Dr. Hajar Albinali, enumerated in his opening speech the aims and aspirations of the GHA. He also told the audience what the association had achieved within the last three years great accomplishments such as symposiums, conferences, workshops, the journal, and the publication of the clinical guidelines.
The president then ended his speech with a poem about the GHA. The poem emphasized the role of the cardiologist in the society and his service to humanity.
The President, who is also a poet, said that the heart of a cardiologist is full of affection and sympathy for his patients. Medicine for the cardiologist is a mixture of science and kindness. He said in one verse that God gave cardiologists curative hands. Their "hand-touch" cures the spirits and bodies of their patients.
The poem ended with a call on the cardiologists who have not yet joined the GHA to join soon. The poet said: "Don't stay away from our group. We have for every cardiac ailment a warrior. However, we are a heart-loving group. We would love to have you join the GHA. Love is as powerful as the sultan."
