Myocardial calcification is classified as either dystrophic or metastatic. Dystrophic calcification is more common and usually occurs in the area of prior myocardial infarction. It is usually caused by a large myocardial infarction and is reported to occur in 8% of infarcts more than 6 years old. [1],[2]
